Hatching Begins

Dolly has been more restless on this nest than she was with the previous one, and the chick finally begins to hatch - a day later than expected.

Slowly it chips its way around the inside of its eggshell, until by mid-morning his mom lifts off a little to see that there is now a good sized gap between the top and bottom pieces of the egg...
