Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

Play, Play, Play!

Canaries are very playful. Here, one group is bathing, while others are shredding the millet hanging in the middle of their swing-perch.

One is having a great time tugging on the leaves of the potted palm outside the cage, watching them bounce and wave when he lets go, while another decimates the tips of a fern. I make sure all houseplants used are non-toxic, due to this tendancy to eat anything green they can lay their little beaks on!

They do get lots of greens served fresh daily. But apparently they like to 'harvest' their own sometimes, too!

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
