Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

Hotcha

This is a fairly good shot of Hotcha, one of the babies from the first Canary Cam nest in the spring of 2000. Can you tell which one he was? He has grown into a lovely hard-feathered varigated red lipchrome canary, one of the range of colours so often lumped together under the somewhat confusing term of 'Red Factor'. That term really only means that his feathers show that he carries the genetic factor that allows his feathers to show red colour gotten from the foods he eats.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
