Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

Bad Bird

Oh-oh! Hotcha is not doing his job properly. Although he was willing to fertilize Peanut's eggs, he is also harassing her, and here the Cam has caught him trying to disassemble the nest.

This is not something I am about to sit still for, so he must come out of the breeding cage. Luckily, most hens are quite capable of raising a clutch of babies on their own. But having a reliable male to help them feed the babies can be a big help, and as Peanut has not yet begun to lay eggs, I decide to try putting another young male, currently unpaired, in with her to see how things go.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
