Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

Great Explorations

The one chick is off to explore the cage, while Mom watches how it goes. The other youngster appears to feel ignored, and hops to the side of the nest closest to his Mom, wagging his tail for all he is worth while calling for food.

Below him you can see one of the two eggs in the clutch which did not hatch. It is important to leave these in the nest while the chicks grow - they give the feet and legs necessary and needed support.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
