The Long Incubation

Eggs laid, the pair settles down for the long haul. Canary eggs take roughly two weeks to incubate, and Baby Doll must do all the work herself.

Peepity likes to sit on the nest and pretend he is a hen, but male canaries aren't actually able to properly incubate an egg; the area of their brain that controls these instincts in the hens, is in the male taken up by the braincells dedicated to his song.

The long incubation is underway, and both parties look rather resigned!

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
