Shreddery Most canaries love playing with short pieces of string, tied down firmly to they can tug all they like. Use a material that won't shrink (or that is pre-shrunk) like cotton, hemp, or jute kitchen cord, and make sure the loose ends are no more than an inch or two long so nobody can get tangled and hurt themselves. A cheap string toy like this can also help prevent feather-picking problems from arising, when offered in a shared flight.
