Again, Incubation

The eggs have been laid, and Baby Doll settles down to incubate her clutch of four eggs for another 12 or 13 days, the length of time my hens usually take to hatch out their eggs.

Fourteen day incubation periods are probably more common to most canaries, though, and I have also heard of chicks hatching out after 16, 17, or even 18 days!

Since incubation time is calculated in total hours that the eggs are at the proper incubation temperature, you can see how dedicated a hen has to be in order to hatch out her chicks so soon!

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
