Hatching Begins

Peepity must have been talking to the chick while it was beginning to pip its shell - because the next morning, Baby Doll lifts off the eggs and quietly calls Peeps over to see.

The two of them hover over the eggs, 'talking' quietly in encouraging tones, but are careful not to let me see anything unusual - if I hadn't found the empty top of one of the shells at the far end of the cage, I would never have known that hatching had begun.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
