Welcome to the

Canary Cam Archives

First Peek

The chicks are three days old now, and finally the Cam gets a peek at one while Baby Doll is feeding. It is not unusual for a canary hen to be so protective of her babies that it is difficult to tell if she is actually feeding - they adopt a position very like the one they assume while turning the eggs, and it can be difficult to know for sure if the youngsters are being fed.

This is the main reason why it is usually easier to just take a look at the chicks' crops - if they have been fed, you will be able to easily see it through the fine translucent skin of the chicks' necks.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
