Cleaning the Nest

This picture was taken 30 seconds after the last one. In it, you can see that Peepity, after admiring his mate's feeding technique, is cleaning up the nest a little, before going back to the food dish for a refill.

At this age, the youngsters' droppings are encased in a little sac - as long as the nest is made of material that is not overly absorbant, this sac makes it very easy for the parents to remove waste material from the nest.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
