More Hatchery

May 7, 2000; Dan has just realized that the rest of the eggs are hatching - see the small crack in the one egg?   (just to the left of the baby)

I deliberately set the clutch so that one would hatch a day earlier than the rest - often new parents are nervous, and four hungry little heads can be a big surprise to new canary parents.

With one hatching a day early, they get time to get used to the idea before becoming overwhelmed in babies, and the size difference is not as great, with the rest hatching together the following day.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
