Playtime

Playtime is as important to a canary as it is to most young creatures - it helps them develop the skills they need.

Here you see Pansy and Molly playing with a simple set of 'toys' made by tying a few short lengths of cotten, hemp, or jute kitchen twine to a swing, and leaving the loose ends free for them to tug at.

Not only do they love this kind of toy, but it can help prevent feather-picking problems from arising in shared aviaries (even if they only share space for a few weeks).

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
