A Dedicated Mom Some hens will spend a fair amount of time off the nest, eating and such, but Dolly is a dedicated mother - she rarely leaves the nest for more than a minute or so, and even does her preening while guarding her eggs. You need to watch a setting hen carefully sometimes - some will get so dedicated to the eggs that they will not take adequate time to eat for themselves!   Luckily, in this case at least, I know that Dan keeps Dolly well fed...
