Bilbo and Flame

      This was one of those rare and unlikely friendships between two male canaries. Bilbo, on the left, is a buff, or soft-feathered, Plain-headed, (technically known as a 'Consort') Gloster canary. He is the type of bird who is bred to the crested birds to produce more crested and non-crested glosters. The crest is a dominant mutation, and a crested bird should only be mated with a non-crested bird.

      Flame, on the other hand, is an intensive feathered 'clear', that is, non-variegated, Red canary.

      In this picture, Bilbo is feeling a little nervous, but Flame is prepared to take a stand...
