Dundee the Splendid Parakeet

Dundee and his 'wife' Peaches, a lovely pair of splendid parakeets, were another case of pet birds being bought for their beauty, and found to be undesirable because of the mess they caused and the amount of care they required. Splendids, sometimes known as 'Red-Fronted Parakeets' (for obvious reasons) are one of the many beautiful grass parakeets from Australia. The best known of this group is the talkative budgeriargar. Unlike many other parakeets, the splendid's voices are sweet & melodious, and many still have that same engaging personality you will so often find in the psittacine species. Yes, I know pepper plants are poisonous, but he didn't eat it - he used it for disguise, not dinner!!
