Welcome to Robirda's

Canary Egg Pages

Hello! I thought you would enjoy seeing one of my hens laying her egg... this is Dolly, featured raising her babies on the Canary Cam.

Most of my hens lay their eggs in the early dawn, before the lights come on... but as the days lengthen towards summer, the day comes when there is enough light for the Cam to be able to document this fascinating natural process.

Each egg masses approximately 25 percent of the hen's total body weight - to put this into perspective, it's like a human woman who weights 100 pounds giving birth to a 25 pound baby!

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
