Rosalind Inspects A NestMeet Rosalind, one of my hens. She is inspecting a potential nest site for suitability. The nest pan is called a 'Border' pan, and is made in Britian. You might take note of how it is attached - it is very easy to lift the whole nest off the cage for inspection. This can make a world of difference if any nest inspection is required anytime during the breeding season. The nest lining is made from washable acrylic wool crocheted in 3/4ths circle so as to fit the bowl of the nest - you can find a pattern here. I use ordinary childrens glue to anchor it onto the nestpan - some kind of anchor is necessary, as the hens tug and pull quite a lot. |
