Meet one of the very rare pairs of fraternal twin canaries who survived hatching together from a single egg and grew into a pair of beautiful, if slightly small, birds.

The hen, Peepicheep, on the left, sang almost as well as a male canary when she felt like it, and was far and away the smartest bird I have ever known. Her brother Reepicheep adored babies and actively participated in incubating his hen's eggs - a tactic rarely heard of in the world of canary males. Their colour is known as non-intensive bronze. You can read their stories in the Flock Talk archives, beginning with the feature story in issue 86.

They were both fairly old when this photo was taken, but they left far more behind them than just memories when they left this life. Some things are for forever.

This site is dedicated to all of those who try to help others on our journey to a better
tomorrow, and especially to Jack Merkens, whose last words to me were "Promise
me you'll keep writing about those canaries! Never stop, ok? Promise!"
Okay, Jack. I promise.
